Taking our community’s health and wellness to heart

At AmeriHealth, we don’t just promote well-being — we help make it happen. From supporting healthy organizations to volunteering at and sponsoring a wide array of community programs and activities, we work to help raise awareness about important health issues and give people tools and resources to improve their well-being.

People who care

The AmeriHealth Volunteer Team connects our current and retired employees and their families with community volunteer activities. It’s a comprehensive outreach program that provides a wide range of benefits to a diverse population.

We’re working to close gaps in care and improve health outcomes across the communities we serve. Not everyone has the same access to high-quality care, and we’re committed to changing that. AmeriHealth is focused on removing barriers to care and advancing health equity through community-based programs, provider partnerships, and data-driven solutions.

Leading with intention

We are committed to improving access to care, enhancing health outcomes, and strengthening the health of the communities we serve in the following ways:

  • Improving outcomes in key areas where disparities persist, such as maternal health, behavioral health, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
  • Removing race-based clinical adjustments and embedded biases in decision-making tools that can lead to unequal care and poorer outcomes.
  • Engaging members and communities to better understand their needs, identify gaps in care, and shape programs and solutions.

Advancing equity through measurable outcomes

We rely on data to shape and strengthen our health equity strategy. Over the past three years, we’ve made progress in the following areas:

  • Evaluated and monitored severe maternal health complications among African American members.
  • Increased members’ overall depression screening rates by 5.5%.
  • Improved colorectal cancer screening rates by an average of 5% year over year, with strong progress among Hispanic/Latino and Asian populations.
