  • American Cancer Society: A nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
  • American Dietetic Association: The nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. ADA serves the public by promoting optimal nutrition, health and well-being.
  • American Heart Association: A national voluntary health agency whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
  • Healthfinder: A searchable site that contains consumer health and human service information.
  • Healthy People 2010: A comprehensive disease prevention and health promotion goals for the first decade of the 21st century.
  • MyPyramid: A part of the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, this site contains information about food and nutrition topics.
  • National Cancer Institute: The institute coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients.
  • National Center for Health Statistics: The federal government’s principal vital and health statistics agency.
  • National Institutes of Health: Health topics A-Z and the Institutes that research them.
  • Shape Up America!: A high profile national initiative to promote healthy weight and increased physical activity in America.
  • Smokefree.gov: An online guide to quitting smoking and access to experts who can help. Instant messaging from the National Cancer Institute’s LiveHelp service is available as well as local telephone support.
  • The Centers for Disease Control’s StairWELL to Better Health Online Toolkit: This toolkit provides "how-to" assistance for those who wish to replicate similar changes to stairwells to increase workplace physical activity.
  • US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): The leading federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people at home and abroad, providing credible information to enhance health decisions, and promoting health through strong partnerships.
  • US Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion: Works to strengthen the disease prevention and health promotion priorities of the Department within the collaborative framework of the US Dept. of Health and Human Services.
