How to Run a Health Promotion Campaign

You can put your own stamp of uniqueness on a program through the promotions and incentives (if applicable) you use. However, there are some key elements needed to run a health promotion campaign.

Planning

In the planning stage of a health promotion campaign, be sure to establish goals and objectives, get senior management support and develop a budget for prizes or incentives (if applicable).

Promotion

This step will inform employees about the upcoming event and get them excited. Utilize flyers, banners, posters, e-mail announcements and newsletters to spread the word.

Registration

Try to find a central location to post registration information or if you want to keep paper to a minimum, conduct electronic registration using the company intranet. Be sure to add a deadline to the communication materials.

Implementation

Encourage employees with a motivational speaker at a kick off session. Send occasional email reminders to participants or post results at various intervals throughout the campaign.

Evaluation

Now it’s time to find out what worked and what didn’t! Evaluations will help to improve future campaigns. Evaluations determine the outcome of a program. They help you figure out if your objectives were met. It is a good idea to add an evaluation component to your health promotion program.
