Upcoming Medicare Advantage HMO Changes

Effective January 1, 2011, there are several benefits changes to our AmeriHealth 65^® NJ HMO plan. The November edition of Partners in Health Update^SM contains a detailed list of many of these benefits changes.

One specific change refers to the maximum out-of-pocket (MOOP) limit for Medicare Advantage HMO members, as mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The MOOP will establish an annual limit on total enrollee cost-sharing liability (e.g., deductibles, copays, coinsurance) for Medicare Part A and B services. Its dollar amount will be established annually by CMS but will not change during the course of a calendar year.
