AmeriHealth New Jersey Announces New Contracts and Contract Extensions

Mount Laurel and Iselin, NJ - April 2, 2009 - AmeriHealth New Jersey (AmeriHealth) announces several new and extended multi-year contracts with health systems across the state.

These multiple agreements will enable AmeriHealth NJ members who participate in all medical products, to access services and health professionals on an "in-network" basis, which will mean lower costs for those members under most plan designs from the following physician groups and facilities below:

  • Garden State Urology in Morris County, whose practice includes 12 doctors, many of whom are featured on New Jersey Monthly's list of the "Top Doctors in New Jersey.
  • Meridian Health System, whose hospital facilities include Jersey Shore University Medical Center, in Neptune; Riverview Medical Center, in Red Bank; and Ocean Medical Center, in Brick.
  • Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, which comprises 1,300 physicians and surgeons in all specialties affiliated with the hospital.
  • Southern Ocean County Hospital, a 176-bed hospital in Manahawkin which includes a variety of specialized services and a 230-physician practice.
  • Vista Health System, LLC, in Summit, which has 368 physicians located in many northern counties is an independent practice association of physicians.
