3000+ Runners “Run the Bridge” to Support Local School for the Disabled

Cooper AmeriHealth Bridge Challenge benefits the Larc School

Camden, NJ - November 4, 2007 - A record-breaking number of runners and walkers crossed the finish line today during the 13th annual Cooper AmeriHealth Bridge Challenge.

Mr. Hillary Kipchumba, 22, of West Chester, PA, captured first place in the 10K run, with a time of 30 minutes and 27 seconds.  Carmen Donma-Hussar, 30, of Ardmore, PA, led the women's division this year, coming in at 33 minutes and 27 seconds. These two runners led the way across the Ben Franklin Bridge to Philadelphia, then back toward the Camden waterfront where runners were treated to picturesque Delaware River sites, including the Adventure Aquarium, Tweeter Center, Battleship New Jersey, and ending the race in Campbell’s Field.

In the male division, John Gathoga, age 27, placed second, finishing in 30:46, and Thadeus Meyers, 22, of Bryn Mawr, PA, finished third at 31:08.

In the female division, Alemtsehay Misganan, 27, finished second in 33:45, and Caroline Chepkorir, 20, finished third at 34:00.

“This event is made successful through the enthusiasm of the hundreds of volunteers and the thousands of runners and walkers willing to take on the bridge to help disabled students in our area,” said Judith L. Roman, President and CEO of AmeriHealth Insurance Company of New Jersey, a naming sponsor of the race. “We’re pleased to be a part of this world-class event that brings the community together and makes a difference in the lives of the wonderful children and their families at the Larc School.”

All proceeds from the race benefit the Larc School, which serves individuals with moderate to severe disabilities throughout South Jersey. With the record breaking number of participants and the strong support of its corporate partners, proceeds from this year’s race are expected to be at an all-time high.
