Press ReleaseAmeriHealth New Jersey: 'A Best Place to Work'Mt. Laurel, NJ – May 2, 2005 – AmeriHealth New Jersey has been named one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey in a statewide awards program. AmeriHealth placed 23rd in the “medium-sized company” category. “We’re delighted to receive statewide recognition for our progressive work environment that confirms AmeriHealth is an employer of choice throughout the region and across New Jersey,” said William F. Haggett, President and CEO of AmeriHealth New Jersey. “Our associates are the backbone of our businesses and the reason why AmeriHealth is an excellent place to work.” This is the first year for the award program and is the first of its kind offered by the state of New Jersey. The program, presented by NJBIZ, a weekly business publication, and The Best Companies Group, was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in New Jersey, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Places to Work in New Jersey is sponsored by J.H. Cohn and North Fork Bank, in partnership with the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey chapter of the Society of Human Resource Managers. The Best Places to Work in New Jersey program acknowledges the top 50 companies in two groups: medium-sized companies (25-199 employees) and large-sized companies (more than 200 employees). A two-part process is used to determine the Best Places to Work in New Jersey. The first part consisted of an evaluation of each company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part involved an employee survey addressing behavioral tendencies, rather than company systems. These assessments were compiled and analyzed by The Best Companies Group, an independent organization based in Harrisburg, PA. NJBIZ will feature a special editorial section honoring this year’s winners in its May 9 issue. AmeriHealth New Jersey provides health care coverage to 265,000 New Jersey residents. The company has built carefully-credentialed hospital and physician networks for its managed care products, with thousands of physicians and more than 100 hospitals throughout its service areas.
