What’s unique about AmeriHealth Direct POS is, while a member must select an AmeriHealth primary care physician (PCP), members can access virtually all health care services in or out of the AmeriHealth network without a referral. Referrals are required for X-rays, laboratory, podiatry, spinal manipulation, and physical/occupational therapy.
AmeriHealth Direct POS is only available as a plan selection of the Flex Copay Series or the Flex Deductible Series.

Features of Direct POS:
- Members choose a PCP from a wide network of more than 20,000 doctors and 100+ hospitals.
- Members need a PCP referral for X-rays, laboratory, podiatry, spinal manipulation, and physical/occupational therapy services.
- For all other specialist services, members may seek care directly without a referral. Members receive the highest benefit level when they obtain care from providers who participate in the AmeriHealth network.
- Wellness programs, including fitness reimbursement and discounts on alternative services, are included at no additional cost.
- Programs to manage chronic conditions are available.
- Comprehensive benefits for students and travelers out of the area are included.
