How does AmeriHealth 65 Basic compare with a Medicare supplement?
An AmeriHealth 65 Basic plan provides more coverage than a typical Medicare supplement and original Medicare combined – often at a much lower monthly premium.  There's emphasis on preventative care – with many services covered at no cost to you.  What's more, with AmeriHealth 65 Basic you can have added convenience – with a plan that includes both your medical and your Medicare prescription drug coverage.

If I chose a Medical only option, can I join a different Medicare drug plan?
No.  If you enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan with prescription drug coverage, you must get your prescription drug coverage through that plan.

I travel a lot. What if I have an emergency?
You may travel throughout the United States and use your AmeriHealth 65 Basic benefits for emergencies and out-of-area urgent care/renal dialysis. Except under limited circumstances, as defined by Medicare, emergency, urgernt care or dialysis services are not covered outside the United States.

How do I know if the medications I take are covered?
A formulary – the list of drugs covered by the plan – is available on this website.  View the Drug Formulary .We've been able to negotiate special prices with drug companies for the medications in our formulary.  Savings are passed on to you when your prescriptions are filled at network pharmacies.

Why is it important to choose a Primary Care Physician when I enroll?
Because AmeriHealth 65 Basic is a managed care plan, all your health care must be provided, arranged or authorized by your Primary Care Physician.  The doctor you select from our extensive network – and it may be the doctor you see now – will coordinate your care to help ensure better quality care with fewer complications and faster recoveries, and to lessen the likelihood that your medications and treatments conflict.  You can choose from over 3,000 Primary Care Physicians in the AmeriHealth 65 Basic network.

What resources do you have for managing health conditions like asthma?
If you have asthma, diabetes or another chronic condition, you can get the one-on-one support you need to manage your health through ConnectionsSM  Health Management Programs.  You'll have access to a Health Coach you can talk to any time of day or night, seven days a week.

Do I have to file claims with AmeriHealth 65 Basic?
No! With our automatic claims filing, there is virtually no paperwork for you to worry about (some services provided outside the service area may require minimal paperwork.)   In most cases you simply present your AmeriHealth 65 Basic ID card
